The Lowdown recap, Episode 5: 'Whose Land?'
The great Peter Dinklage plays Lee's best friend — or is it worst enemy?

A review of this week's episode of The Lowdown, "This Land?" — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I have a weird roommate situation that makes you think I'm a pimp...
Early in "This Land?," Lee tells Francis a story about a time when he was a little kid, waiting in the car for his mom to come back from a quick errand. He says he closed his eyes and wished he could instantly jump ahead to being 30 years old. "And you know what?" he tells her. "That happened." He's trying to discourage her from participating in an investigation that's leaving a trail of bodies behind it, with Allen as this conspiracy's latest victim. But Lee's suggestion that he leapt straight from being a boy to being a full-blown adult doesn’t seem inaccurate based on what we know of him. He’s a middle-aged man with a job and a family, and he’s pursuing a dangerous case. But his entire life feels like something dreamed up by the young Lee waiting for his mom’s return. He is a kid’s vision of what it would be like to be an adult — and particularly a crusading reporter/detective — who wants all of the adventure and excitement, but seems oblivious to the responsibilities that come with it.
